Alice Springs

Reference: 3731059

Steadfast and patient? Make a change where it matters. Couple resilience with creativity, the use of natural resources to educate our youth and you're on the right path to a better and brighter future.

You are a Qualified Teacher with EREA Youth+ Flexi Schools Network, based in Central Australia. You love it here. It's tough, but you wouldn't have it any other way.

You are, in a word, resilient. We're not going to beat around the bush: this is a challenging role. But you don't need us to tell you that. You have years of experience behind you and you're not afraid of striking out on your own. You've got independence in spades and don't need any hand-holding. And it goes without saying that you've got a deep-seated passion for adventure and an unwavering love of teaching. You live for those moments of enlightened comprehension, for the broadening of opportunities. You're creative. You're fun. You're resourceful. And you can adapt.

We are St Joseph's Catholic Flexible Learning Centre part of the EREA Youth+ Flexi Schools Network. We provide young people with diverse learning experiences to guide them towards maturity, employment, further education and an increased sense of social connectedness. Based in Alice Springs, our St. Joseph's Catholic Flexible Learning Centre now has 110 young people enrolled and counting. But we'd be kidding ourselves if we thought we could do that without a top-calibre team of Educators. And that's where you come in.

This is not your ordinary gig! Teaching on the road, this role will see you working with young indigenous men from 12-18 years of age, some of whom will have had experience with the juvenile justice system. You'll be drawing on your creativity to deliver lessons that resonate in unique settings. Your classroom could be anywhere from a public library to under a tree!

Fortunately, you'll be well prepared, with your 3+ years' experience teaching Indigenous students, preferably in Central Australia. Your LR truck license will prove indispensable when it comes to taking our fully fitted-out vehicle to the road. The more hands-on experience you have to offer the better. Got a trade, an outdoor adventure background? Great!

In return for your hard work, the rewards will be immense. You will be contributing to the journeys of your young people in the same way that they'll contribute to yours. On top of your award salary and professional development, you'll know that you'll have left a footprint of your own on the road to a better world for our future generations
